STAR Testing
2009-2010 Testing Schedule - May 10-21
The Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) Program is a series of California Standards Tests (CSTs) that are given to all public school students in California. Testing for the 2009-2010 school year will take place in early May 2010.
These standardized tests are designed to measure what students have learned measured against the California state academic standards. A listing of these standards can be found at the California Department of Education website at http://www.cde.ca.gov/be/st/ss/index.asp.
Parent & Student Resources:
 |
Sample tests with questions taken from former tests are available at the California Department of Education website at http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/sr/css05rtq.asp |
| |
- Parents, you may want to look at these to be familiar with the test content and format (and you will be amazed at what your child is learning in school!).
- Please be aware that this is one of the only resources teachers have to use as a practice test and that you child will probably be using this test to practice in class, so please do not pre-empt the teachers by using them at home.
|
 |
The Houghton Mifflin site www.eduplace.com has a STAR Test Prep online quiz for each math unit. |
| |
- Go to http://www.eduplace.com and click the "Students" Tab (it should say "Find your textbook" at the top)
- Choose a subject (Math)
- Choose a book - be sure to choose "California Math" with the yellow text
- Pick your grade by clicking on an orange square
- Click on the "STAR Test Prep" link and then you will see the topics listed by unit - you can click on these to take an online test.

Encourage your child to be a STAR!
Parents, don't forget to turn in your yellow STAR decorated with encouraging words for your child - these will be posted throughout the school to encourage our kids to do their best!

CMA refers to the California Modified Assessment and is the state test for students who qualify to take the modified assessment. All other students will take the California Standards Test ("CST").
CSTs are untimed tests. The time for each part of the CSTs includes time for test administrators to distribute materials, give directions, and collect materials, as well as student working time.
